When Social Security Says the Wrong Person is Dead

The Medicare and More column over at the Tuscon Citizen posted a December 13, 2010 story describing how the social security administration mistakenly recorded a man’s death when it was really his wife who died. In the blog post, Social Security to Local Senior: You’re Dead, MedicareBlogger explains how the problem seemed to expand in information-changing concentric circles. (I can just picture the rock landing in the water and the ever-expanding circles of bureaucratic confusion). The article also identifies other potential mix-ups that can increase this man’s problems, given that this is the time of year that people are making changes to Medicare plans.

Medicare and More is an excellent blog to follow, even if you live in a far away from Tuscon, Arizona. I learn a lot every time I read one of the columns.
